Sourav Ganguly is one of the prolific cricketers to don the national jersey. He was known for his authoritative, influential, and daring captain who changed the way the cricketing world perceived India. He is lovingly known as the ‘Prince of Calcutta’. They might be few controversies which took place during his international career but no one takes away his achievements.

It was under Dada leadership that Indian Cricket Team started winning series overseas regularly. He played by his own rule and for him, challengers were always meant to be defeated. He was given the title of God of off-side’, his strong cuts and cover drives brought cheers to the fans as well as the team. His batting was mixture aggression with grace and went on to become one of the most destructive batsmen in limited-overs cricket.

It was under his reign that Sourav Ganguly started nurturing and giving opportunities to young talents. This led to the birth of future legends such as Gautam Gambhir, Virender Sehwag, Harbhajan Singh, Yuvraj Singh, Zaheer Khan and few others. These four players thrived under Ganguly’s captaincy.          

 Ganguly was India’s most successful Test captain with 21 wins in 49 matches and went on to score scored 6,888 runs in 109 Tests at an average of 41.74 with 15 centuries. he finished his one-day career with 11,363 runs in 311 matches, one of only seven batsmen to reach the 10,000-run mark in limited-overs cricket.

 Post Retiring from the international level, Ganguly has been still playing a very active role in the game. He is currently he is the President of the Cricket Association of Bengal. As per the latest development, Former captain Sourav Ganguly is set to become the new BCCI president. During a recent interaction with the media, Dada was quoted saying that, “it’s a great opportunity for him to do something good” as he is taking over the reins of the board at a time when its image has got a severe thrashing.

 Former Captain was also quoted saying, “You need to wait till 3 pm. It’s a great feeling as I have played for the country and captained the country. And I am taking over at a time when BCCI has not been in greatest of position for the last three years. Its image has got hampered quite a lot. It’s a great opportunity for me to do something good.”

The current president of Cricket Association of Bengal will have to resign from his post in September 2020 as he will go into the compulsory cooling-off period. Ganguly also revealed what will be his first agenda which he would like to work was to look after “First Class Cricketer.”

 Ganguly wants to have an official meeting with the stakeholders in Indian cricket and plan out the next course of action. “We will speak to everyone first as we make a decision but my biggest priority will be to look after first-class cricketers. I had requested that to the CoA for three years and they didn’t listen. That’s the first thing I will do, look after the financial health of our first-class cricketers.”

He also admitted that being selected unopposed is a big responsibility. He added that, “Whether unopposed or not, there has to be responsibility as it is the biggest organisation in world cricket. Financially, India is a cricketing powerhouse, so it will be a challenge”.

Sourav also opened up about things learnt from his late BCCI Boss, “I have never imagined so (that I will be in shoes of late Jagmohan Dalmiya). He has been like a father to me. There has been some great presidents of BCCI, Mr Srinivasan, Anurag, who have done a great job,”

Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s son Jay Shah is all set to be the new secretary while Arun Dhumal (younger brother former BCCI president Anurag Thakur) will be the new treasurer.

Amitabh Bachchan is possibly the biggest superstar of Indian cinema, turns 77 today. He took to social media took to thank the fans for sending birthday wishes started pouring in even a day before his special day. He wrote, “My immense gratitude and gratefulness to them that send their wishes for the 11th .. World Mental Health Day: Real Reason Why Bollywood Leading Ladies Are Breaking The Stigma Surrounding Mental Health By Openly Speaking About Their Experiences?

 Today on 10th October is a very important day as ‘World Mental Health Day’ is celebrated every year and this initiative was commenced ever since 1992. The main purpose to observe World Mental Health Day is to create awareness of mental health issues and end the stigma around mental health. This cause has led to break barriers by starting a conversation at home and workplace about Mental Health and reducing the stigma associated with mental health illnesses.

 This will lead to an increase in confidence of the people seeking support and treatment. Also, we should have an open mind as it’s not necessary to have depression, anxiety or any other mental health disorder to make a difference but educating yourself to be considered to the person suffering from mental health illnesses. As per the latest survey conducted Mental Health Issues Results is taking millions of life due to society’s collective failure to deal with these concerns. Deepika Padukone was one of the first Bollywood actresses who came out in the open about battling depression. Om Shanti Om actress has been quite a vocal supporter of depression and anxiety. The versatile actress was quoted saying that “In 2014, I was diagnosed with clinical depression. But in India, 90 per cent of people who suffer from depression don’t seek help. Depression is like any other illness that requires intervention. It was extremely liberating.

It was my way of saying, “Look who this is who I am. I didn’t think of the consequences at that point. I wanted people to know my truth. Now, not a single day goes by that people aren’t comfortable to talk to me about their mental health. And I give them my times. There’s nothing more important than that, to listen. That in itself is an achievement for me and the cause. That was my motivation, to have people talk about mental health, the way we talk about our physical health.”

Bajirao Mastani actress also revealed at what moment did she realized she had anxiety and said that I didn’t, my mother saw the symptoms and the doctors diagnosed it. I didn’t know why I would feel directionless. Why I felt like I didn’t want to live anymore. Why I felt I wanted to give up everything. Why I would just break down or have bouts of anxiety or start sweating suddenly. I had no idea why any of it was happened, and it was my mother who happened to catch me in one of these moments. If I can give myself any credit in the entire process, it’s the fact that I didn’t resist anything, from my mother talking to me about it to the diagnosis medication.”

There is nothing shameful about it or something to hide. If you had a constant stomach pain, wouldn’t you go to the doctor? It’s that simple. I want to make this my mission, to take any shame out of this, to educate people about this.”

Bipasha Basu recently joined the campaign to create awareness to eradicate stigma from our country and urged others to follow to suit. The actress took to social media to leave a special message to show solidarity with those who are suffering from mental illness and also can be seen wearing a grey ribbon.

Dhoom 2 actress wrote, “India has one of the largest population suffering from one form of mental illness or the other. Mental Health remains the most neglected topic. But not anymore, Interventions in the form of medicine, psychological and social help, can make a huge difference.”

There was a time in her life when she had “suicidal thoughts and wanted to call it quits.

She spoke about her experience and was quoted saying that”I used to feel low and sad all the time but didn’t know I was suffering from depression and Body Dysmorphic Disorder till I got help. At one point, I even had suicidal thoughts and wanted to end things. However, all of it changed when I accepted myself and what I was going through. I think that is the first step towards fighting depression.”

She added that “depression is “real” and it can be dealt with. “Don’t sit back and think it will get okay but go get help. Like you have a sprain and go get yourself checked if you have depression, seek help,,”

Germany coach Joachim Low calls Schweinsteiger “one of the greatest German players ever.”

The German midfielder, Bastian Schweinsteiger was born on 1st August 1984 in the small town of Kolbermoor which is located to the South East of Munich. He was introduced to the sport at the young age of six for FV Oberaudorf and was soon transferred to TSV Rosenheim three years later. It was in TSV Rosenheim where he was spotted by the Bayern Munich who wasted on time in signing the young lad in 1998. Today, our nation will be celebrating the 87th Air Force Day at the Hindon Air Force Station in Ghaziabad. The Indian Air Force (IAF) was established by the British Empire, formed under the Indian Air Force Act on 8th October 1932. Post the independence in 1947 was called but when India turned Republic in 1950, the prefix Royal was removed.

As per the recent update, IAF is the fourth most powerful air force in the world post the United States, Russia and China. With around 1, 70,000 personnel and 1,500 aircraft, IAF is the fourth largest air force in the world after the US, Russia and China. The Indian air force is also the seventh strongest air force in the world. IAF flag is blue in colour and contains the National Flag in the first quadrant and a roundel of the Tricolour was adopted in 1951. Ever since 1933, the IAF Roundel (logo on the planes and IAF flag) has changed at least four times.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to social media and wrote, “Today, on Air Force Day, a proud nation expresses gratitude to our air warriors and their families. The Indian Air Force continues to serve India with utmost dedication and excellence.”

IAF chief Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria had released a promotional video which showcases the story of the Balakot airstrike from earlier this year that targetted a terrorist camp in Pakistan. We also get to see that fighter jets taking off, dropping missiles and radars zooming in to targets.

The video also includes a voiceover in which narrative speaking about retaliated the Pulwama terror attack of February 14 in which 40 jawans of the Central Reserve Police Force were killed. Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji had given a free hand to the Defense Force to give befitting reply to the attack, which was carried out by the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad.

 The Indian Air Force put the plan on action on 26th February, Mirage-2000 fighter jets left from different airfields in India. The fighter jets propelled smart bombs that beleaguered Jaish-e-Mohammad’s largest terror facility, located in Balakot in Pakistan’s Kyber Pakhtunwa. In retaliation, Pakistan Air Force sent their fighter jets into India. But the Indian Air Force successfully was able to destroy a pack of its Sukhoi Su-30 and MiG-21 fighter jets.

 The occasion is also more special and historic as Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will take delivery of India’s newest multirole fighter jet Rafale in France and also will be performing ‘Shastra Pooja,‘ before officially receiving the first Rafale today.

I was blessed to born in an era ie 90’s when in India shows like X-Men, Wonder Women, He-Man , Swat cats, Centurion, Gi-Joes, Batman, Superman, Spiderman, Justice League and Avenger came alive on our television. I am one of the few individual who loved to read comics and watch Television show / Movies of both the of DC and Marvel universes. Many have questioned me how can you like both DC and Marvel universe but I was always say that you can as at the end of the day the message is the same Good victory over the evil.

Batman is one of the most beloved character amongst the comic lovers and one of the major factor being he does not have any super powers but through his aura strikes fear in his enemies. Batman universe is very believable and has gone through a lot of ordeal but still manages to stay positive and become a symbol by protecting his city, Gotham with sheer grit and determination.

Recently the world got to get insight into the origin Story of the ‘Joker’ in the big screen on the 2nd October and became the fourth largest opening ever for an R-rated feature. The movie was the #1 movie in the domestic and overseas market, earning $234 million at the box office. The Warner Bros. DC Comics adaptation Joker is a Psychological thriller which is being helmed by Todd Phillips and Joaquin Phoenix is essaying the role of the Joker.

The movie was one of the most anticipated movie of 2019 and movie doesn’t disappoint the fans. Through the movie we get to know initial life of joker and how because ill-fated situations, any well-balanced person can turn into a crazy psychopath.  The film takes us back to the early 80’s in Gotham City and closely follows the life of Arthur Fleck (Joaquin Phoenix), who is a happy soul and is considered an outcast because of a health condition that makes him laugh reluctantly. He shared his apartment with his bedridden mother (Frances Conroy), Arthur struggles to make a living as a part-time clown.

His dream is to become a successful stand up comedian and is inspired by Late-night television show idol, Murray Franklin which is essayed by the legendary actor Robert De Niro. But nothing is going as planned and his own mother doesn’t have faith in his movie, who says, “Don’t you have to be funny to be a comedian? -. Soon Arthur’s life starts to spiral out of control, and his alter ego starts taking control.

During the two hour narrative the audience are glued to their seat besides the deeply disturbed and damaged man is oversensitive. The movie music mazing sound design, Hildur Gudnadottir’s soulful background score and powerful music pieces. Also the highlight of the movie is the last monologue when and when Murray Franklin (Robert De Niro) and Arthur Fleck (Joaquin Phoenix) come face to face and quoted saying that, “I used to think my life was a tragedy. But now I realise, it’s a comedy.”  


Phoenix did a fabulous job and delivering the chilling kind of performance which was required for the role. He has nailed the mannerisms of the character by giving masterful performance that the film is seeing such commercial success.

He ensures that you identify with the character as he turns into a homicidal maniac. He is supported by impressive star cast such De Niro as the talk show host, Conroy as Arthur’s mother and Beetz as his love interest. Though these actors are in one-dimensional roles, they make their presence felt.

15-year-old cricketer Shafali Verma made her debut in the Indian women’s cricket team during the home T20 Internationals vs South Africa. The reason behind the selection of the talented cricketer was her superb performance in the Women’s T20 challenge earlier this year. It commendable achievement for the Haryana-girl to represent the country at such a young age. The world took notice to her brilliance at the women’s T20 challenge and played under the captaincy of Mithali for Team Velocity which took place during the IPL earlier this year.

The Rohtak born cricketer didn’t disappoint the fans who played a superb inning against South Africa to guide to 51 runs victory over the visitor in Surat. The youngster cricket journey was not an easy road and had to disguise herself as a boy and prime reason being there was no academy for girls back home.

To get proper cricket coaching, she had to chop her hair on the instructions of her father, Sanjeev Verma as major academy refused to roll them in their cricket academy. Her father owns a jewellery shop, recollected the tough time and was quoted saying that, “No one was ready to induct her in any academy because there was not a single one for girls in Rohtak. I begged them to give her a chance but in vain,” recalled Sanjeev, who runs a small jewellery shop in Rohtak. “I knocked on the doors of a lot of cricket academies but all I got was rejection. I decided to cut her hair, and took her to one of the academies and got her enrolled there as a boy.”

He further added that “I was scared but no one noticed. Nau saal ke umar mein saare bachche ek jaise hi lagte hain (At the age of nine, every kid looks the same).”

The youngster had to go through rigorous training and got bruised too but her passion for the game grew leas and bound. As they say fortune favours the brave and that what happened with Shafali when her school deiced to start a girl’s cricket team. Proud father also spoke about her daughter’s determination was quoted saying “It was not easy for her to play against the boys as she often used to get hit on the helmet. On a few occasions, the ball even smashed her helmet grill. I used to get worried but she never gave up.”

The Haryana cricketer also opened about how Sachin Tendulkar was one of the major reason she took up sports. She first saw the glimpses of her idol at the Lahli ground and inspired to take up the sport. But my daughter is very strong mentally. She told me once, ‘Papa one day they all will be chanting my name.”

On the occasion of 115th birth Anniversary of second Prime Minister of India, Lal Bahadur Shastri, let us take an insight into his life and important role he played in shaping of new India. He was known for his resilience and working for the development for the nation. He also helped India move towards self-sustenance and self-reliance. Though he was made of few words but commanded respect from his peers and is remembered for his great mind who was known for his extraordinary will power.  

 He was born on 2nd October, 1904 in Mughalsarai (Uttar Pradesh) and coined the famous slogan ‘Jai Jawan Jai Kisan’ which still resonate in the heart of every Indian till date. The slogan was to motivate soldiers, and to boost the morale of the farmers to increase production of food grains.

He believed against dividing people on the basis of caste system and decided to drop his last name. He was conferred with the title of ‘Shastri’ post graduating from Kashi Vidyapeeth, Varanasi in 1925. The title ‘Shastri’ is given to a person who is ‘scholar’ or a person, proficient in the Holy Scriptures.

Post the sudden passing of India’s first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Shashtri took oath. During the 1965 Indo-Pak war, the nation faced shortage of food. Lal Bahadur Shastri, who was the Prime Minister then, took a decision stop drawing his salary.  Post taking the oath, no one would have thought this small and frail structure would become one of the most dynamic PM of this country ever seen.

The toughest time during his tenure in office was when war broke down between India Vs Pakistan in 1956. Pakistan Army was at powerful position as they had latest technology tanks and artilleries by United States. The man never misused the power of the office and was quite evident when he bought Fiat car which was of Rs. 12,000. Though he only had Rs. 7,000 in his banks and took a loan of 5,000 from Punjab National Bank. The car is today kept at the Shastri Memorial in New Delhi. We don’t find such strong personally in today’s era who personified to be the real leader of masses, each aspect of his live can teach and inspire the future generation.

Lal Bahadur Shastri died in Tashkent on January 11, 1966, at the age of 61, post signing the Tashkent Pact with Pakistan. It has been documented that Shastri Ji died of cardiac arrest but his family members had alleged foul play.  His wife strongly believed that her husband was poisoned but her plea fell on deaf ears. The main reason why many controversies theories have been circulating for a while has been as no postmortem was carried out on his body, making it a great mystery even till date.

Its high time Government of India declassifies files related to Lal Bahadur Shastri’s demise to understand what really happen and give closure to the family and to citizens transpires. His son, Anil Shastri had requested NDA government should declassify all documents related to the death of the former prime minister about the circumstances of his passing away in 1966.

He was quoted saying that, “Its high time Government of India declassifies files related to Lal Bahadur Shastri’s demise to understand what really happen and give closure to the family and to citizens transpires. “We want all documents pertaining to Shastriji’s death to be declassified. Many things have been said about the way he died, many things have been said about the way he died, and even yesterday a young man walked to me at Delhi airport and asked me how my father had died. Family members and common public still have suspicion because the circumstances in which Shastriji died were uncommon…”

Jasprit Bumrah hails from Ahmedabad, Gujarat and was born on 6th December’1993. But he started playing cricket at the age of 14 and from that moment there was no looking back. He first came into limelight when he played a crucial role by taking 7 wickets in his debut first-class match against Vidarbha in the 2013-14 season. Soon word spread across the domestic circuit of Bumrah’s unique action and consistent bowling performances in winning the cause.

Former Mumbai Indians coach, John Wright was the first one to notice the spark in Bumrah post seeing play in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and got him signed with Mumbai Indian Team. He was a teenager when he debuted for Mumbai India and came to limelight when he dismissed Virat Kohli for his debut IPL wicket. His superb balling ability not only impressed the owners, Ambani’s but also Sachin Tendulkar, John Wright, and Rohit Sharma.

At the starting of the week, cricket fans woke up to news which shocked them. Virat Kohli ‘go-to bowler’ aka Jasprit Bumrah had sustained a minor stress fracture in his ruler back and will not be able to play the upcoming three-Test series against South Africa which commences from 2nd October. Umesh Yadav has been named as a replacement.

BCCI has revealed a statement, “Bumrah will now undergo rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) and will be monitored by the BCCI medical team,” the board said in a statement. The bowler, incidentally, had been rested for the just concluded T20 International series against the touring South Africans. “It’s very minor but nobody wants to take any risks with Jasprit. There’s stress in the lower back region and it’s important to monitor it closely to assess future repercussions. That’s the reason he has been given a break.”

As per the latest update, India Fast Bowler, Jasprit Bumrah will travel to the United Kingdom to consult doctors on his injury. The pace bowler is our of action for minimum two months and this is also first major injury break in his three and half year international career. As per sources, The BCCI is sending Bumrah to London for further treatment on his stress fracture. The NCA head physiotherapist Ashish Kaushik will be accompanying him. The BCCI has fixed appointments with three different specialists to get multiple opinions.”

Also added that “Bumrah is expected to leave on October 6th or 7th and would be there in the UK for about a week. As per the opinion of the three doctors, the next course of action will be decided upon. We have taken appointments from the best in the business when it comes to stress fractures,”

Fans are excited to see India speedster back in action soon and be part of India’s World T20 campaign which slated in Australia next year. He took to social media and wrote, “Injuries are part and parcel of the sport,” Bumrah tweeted. “Thank you for all your recovery wishes. My head is held high and I am aiming for a comeback that’s stronger than the setback.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji was on 7-day visit to the United States Of America concluded. He spoke at the UNGA address and was quoted saying that, “wherever I went, whoever I met, be it, world leaders, industrialists or citizens from all walks of life, there is a great spirit of optimism towards India. There is also an immense appreciation of India’s efforts to improve sanitation, healthcare and empower the poor. I would like to express gratitude to the people of the USA for the exceptional welcome, warmth and hospitality. I would also like to thank @POTUS @realDonaldTrump and other respected members of the American Congress and Government.”

 Prime Minister was started ‘Mann Ki Baat’ way back on 3rd October 2014. The main idea behind this was to address the nation every month on All India Radio, DD National and DD News. The aim of the program is that PM voice should reach the masses. During the program various range of important topics and at the same time share stories which motivate the listeners. This month two topics highlighted at the Mann Ki Baat’ which strike a chord with the nation was US Open runner-up Daniil Medvedev Speech and Country’s First ‘Plogger (Ripudaman Belvi).

 In the recently concluded Mann Ki Baat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was all praise for US Open runner-up Daniil Medvedev and talked about his post-match speech which motivated him and all of us can learn a lot from the speech. He was quoted saying that, “Just see how on the one hand, victory in the US Open was discussed; on the other, runner up Daniil Medvedev’s speech was equally doing the rounds in public discourse, especially on social media. Hence I too heard the speech and watched the match. The sheer simplicity and maturity displayed by the 23-year-old Daniil Medvedev touched everyone. It surely stirred me.”

 PM further added that “Moments before this speech, he had suffered defeat at the hands of tennis legend Rafael Nadal, 19 times grand slam winner. An event such as this would have pushed anyone towards remorse and despair; in the case of Medvedev, there was no sign of the slightest pallor on his countenance, Rather, his expression lit up the faces of those watching him with meaningful smiles. He won hearts with his humility and simplicity; the epitome of the spirit of sportsmanship in the truest sense that he is, in letter and spirit. Spectators welcomed his reflections with warmth and fervour. He also touched upon Nadal being the inspiring force in tennis for millions of young people, adding how difficult it was to face him in the game.”

 Modi Ji urged the youth to watch Medvedev’s speech and was quoted saying that, “The way Medvedev heaped praise on his opponent after a defeat in a fierce duel makes him a living example of the true essence of the spirit of sportsmanship. Of course, on the other hand, champion Nadal too showered glowing praise on Daniil’s game. The display of the indomitable ardour of the defeated and the sheer humility of the victorious in the same frame was a sight to behold. If you haven’t heard Medvedev’s speech yet, I shall urge you, especially young friends to watch this video. It holds much for people across the age and class spectra to see and learn.”

 Prime Minister also hailed the important contribution of India’s perhaps first ”plogger” Ripudaman Belvi who started a drive to pick up litter while jogging. Modi Ji further once again raised the cause to stop using plastic and is all set to start a campaign on Gandhi Jayanti, 2nd and was quoted saying that, “while we are celebrating ”Gandhi 150”, 130 crore countrymen have pledged to get rid of of the menace of single-use plastic. In view of the kind of lead that India has taken towards environmental protection, today the countries of the entire world are looking towards India as a model example. I am confident that you will all be a part of the campaign for liberation from the menace of single-use plastic on October 2.” 

During the telephonic conversation with Mr Belvi, the Prime Minister informed that the sports ministry to is organising a ”Fit India Plogging Run” on October 2 in which participants from across India will plog for two km.
