An emotional Luis Suarez was well aware that he will be leaving Barcelona this transfer window but at the same time believes he has the potential to play at the top-level team. The Uruguayan wiped away tears while attending his farewell news conference and left after playing 6 years at Barcelona.
During his tenure with Barca appeared in 283 games and went on to score 198 goals as well as becoming become the third highest goal scorer in the club’s history. during his tenure at the club Suarez won many titles such as four La Liga titles, four Copa del Reys, the Champions League and Club World Cup post joining Barca for £74m from Liverpool in 2014.

However, new Barca boss Ronald Koeman had informed Suarez that he was not in his scheme of plans to revive the club. Suarez was quoted saying “I expected it because it had been said already before the coach told me but I can accept it. Players sometimes need a change, the club needed a change and this case the coach didn’t want me.”
As per official update, Suarez is all set to play for Atletico Madrid and the club revealed stating “Atletico Madrid and Barcelona have reached an agreement for the transfer of Luis Suarez, subject to a medical and the formal agreement of a new contract for the Uruguayan striker with our club,”
Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone is a stronger supportor of Luis Suarez, is of the opinion that he can play an important role in lift the club to new heights. Simeone was quoted saying “We spoke before he went to Barcelona at a time when the possibility came up that he might join us. The last six years he’s had have been incredibly successful. His teammates want to make him settle in as quickly as possible so his goals and game can help us win.”
Luis Suárez had a dream debut for Atlético Madrid by scoring two goals and set up another in a 6-1 and helped his team over Granada. Suaraz was intorduced in the final 20 minutes of the match and made his presence felt immediately by laying on a pass for Marcos Llorente to score the fourth goal of the game. He then headed home a cross from Llorente and rounded off an almost perfect day for Atletico by striking again in stoppage time.
