The nation woke up to one more shocking news of ace Bollywood choreographer Saroj Khan passing away post having a cardiac arrest at the age of 71. She has been admitted to Mumbai’s Guru Nanak Hospital post complaining of having difficulty in breathing. The news was confirmed by her nephew Manish Jagwani who released a statement, ng. “She passed away due to cardiac arrest at around 2:30 am at the hospital.”
The ace Bollywood choreographer has last month was admitted in the hospital post complaining troubling of trouble in breathing. Her last rite took place today at 7 am in Malad, Mumbai. The prayer meeting will be held after three days.
She was lovingly addressed as Masterji’ by stars whom she choreographed and is one of the most prominent Indian dance choreographers in Hindi cinema. choreographing more than 2000 songs in a career of over four decades. Her most famous collaboration were with gorgeous actress Madhuri Dixit and Sridevi. She last choreographed in 2019 in Karan Johar’s production Kalank featuring Madhuri for Tabah Hogaye.
Saroj Khan was born in 1948, she began her career as a child artiste at the age of 3. Soon she Graduating to a back-up dancer in the 1950s and worked closely under the tutelage with choreographer B Sohanlal She began her choreographer journey with Geeta Mera Naam but came into limelight post collaborating with Sridevi and Madhuri Dixit in the 80s and 90’s. Few of her iconic songs choreographed by her are Mr India (1987), Nagina (1986), Chandni (1989), Tezaab (1988), and Thanedaar (1990).
During her illustrious career has won many accolades such as winning three National Awards for Best Choreography for her work in Devdas, Jab We Met and the 2007 Tamil film Shringaram. Her iconic dance movies in movies such as Hawa Hawai, Chandni, Tama Tamma, Ye Ishq Haaye, Ek Do Teen, Dola Re Dola and Dhak Dhak Karne Laga are etched in peoples mind even till this day. In recent time she started working on TV as a reality show judge.
