On #Worldhealthday: Shocking To Know A Healthcare Professional At The New Civil Hospital Harassed By Apartment Residents,

Coronavirus outbreak has affected 209 countries and territories around the world ever since the first case was recorded in China. It has taken Over 74,806 people have lost their lives to COVID-19 and there are 1,347,803 confirmed cases with the outbreak yet to reach its peak across the developed and Developing countries. As per latest development released by the World Health Organization Europe has been the most effected part of the world specifically Italy and Spain. But truly a testing times as the number of cases may be understated for some countries also that we will win this battle against the coronavirus one day.

At the time when the whole world is fighting against global pandemic there a few unsung heroes such as the doctors, nurses, and other medical personnel who are on the working around the clock to provide their service in the  front line of the war against COVID-19. In this is trying time when the nation is on a lockdown and one question keeps popping on our mind is how is to spending all that time at home while in isolation/quarantine?

These unsung heroes are gearing up for battle and running into the fire. He is also putting their lives at risk and worked tirelessly to treat an outbreak of an illness.

The whole world is appreciating for being at the fore front warrior against fight against Covid-19 and what is shocking is that when they are harassed and disgrace the health workers. Today writing about this incident makes me angry and disgraceful what did Dr Sanjibani Panigrahi had to go through the such infortune incident. She was harassed for being a doctor and working closely with coronavirus patients. Dr Panigrahi is currently working with government civil hospital in Surat, Gujarat.  She was mocked for being the carrier of corona patients by her disrespected apartment residents. And was deemed her a threat to the society.

She opened about her unfriendliness environment and was quoted saying “The hostility started on March 23, when the novel coronavirus outbreak registered in everybody’s mind due to lockdown. I was stopped at the main gate and told by neighbours that I am on their hit list because I go to the hospital every day. This is not done, they said, if this continues, we will take action against you.”

Though at this crucial time she tweeted about the crisis to the honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi about her predicament. The local MLA intervened into the matter and reassured the neighbours by playing a peacemaker. But the situation once again worsened on April 4 when she was confronted by her next-door neighbours stopped her at the stairs and suspect her of being Covid-19 positive.

She once again was quoted saying “On Sunday, when I was about to leave my house to take out my dog, the man’s wife started falsely accusing me that my dog has attacked her, so I started making the video. That’s when the husband started hurling abuses at me, he told him what if you are doctor, I will kick you out of the building.”

The video that has gone viral on social media platforms and we can see neighbour has physically assaulted her and none of others present came to her rescue. “All my neighbours have the same sense of resentment; they all give me a hostile look. Although nobody has physically approached me since the March 23 incident the hostility is very much there. Nobody is happy that I am a doctor and I am working in a hospital where Covid-19 patients are being treated.

The main accused stay on the second floor of her society. Sanjibani had pursued her MD in psychiatry from Rajkot resides in the Rajhans Apartment.

Gujarat Home Minister Pradipsinh Jadeja assured that no doctor or health worker can be asked to vacate .
