Ravichandran Ashwin has become a name to reckon with in International Cricket Fraternity. In the start of his career was considered as a Twenty20 bowler for his different style of bowling and also processed batting dependency in the shorter format of the game. But, with his consistent all-round performance, he managed to secure his spot in all formats of the game. But he worked on his skills and started giving a consistent all-round performance and secured his spot in Indian Cricket Team.
His hunger for wickets and records remain unquenched. In 2016, Ravichandran Ashwin became first Indian to take 50 T20I wickets. In recent times Ashwin became the joint-fastest to take 350 wickets, matching Sri Lankan great Muttiah Muralitharan’s feat in his 66th Test.
Kings XI Punjab have never won the IPL, as a result, the owners have appointed Anil Kumble as the head coach of IPL franchise Kings XI Punjab ahead of the 2020 season. For a long time, there has been speculation if in the upcoming season if KXIP is undecided about R Ashwin captaincy.
Spin Wizard Anil Kumble was quoted saying that, “We have not decided that yet. Some decisions need to be made but we don’t need to decide at this moment. IPL is still five months away. There is an auction coming up, we will start to build a squad around that as well. Ashwin had a wonderful two years but of course we did not get the right results but we have not made any decision who the captain will be.”
As per the latest update, off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is all set to join Delhi Capitals in a trade-off with Kings XI Punjab for the forthcoming season of the Indian Premier League in 2020. A senior BCCI official was quoted saying that, “Yes, Ashwin is joining Delhi Capitals. The deal had earlier fell through as KXIP didn’t get the two DC players that they wanted in a trade-off with Ashwin. Now they are getting those two players and it’s 99 percent done.”
KXIP owner had high expectation when they roped Ashwin for a handsome amount of Rs 7.6 crores after Chennai Super Kings (CSK) decided not to retain the off-spinner. But failed to produce the desired results with the KXIP. The Off-spinner couldn’t inspire the Mohali-based tem to the playoffs in the 2018 and 2019 edition of the IPL.
But only time will tell which two players Delhi will be trading.

Kings XI Punjab co-owner Ness Wadia broke silence on former skipper Ravichandran Ashwin who have amicably decided to part ways and was quoted saying that “I know there is a lot of speculation but we are still talking. Ashwin is a very good, versatile player. Any team would love to have him. We are talking to a few different teams (including Delhi) and as soon as we are clear, we will announce it.”
He further added that, “We (Ashwin and KXIP) have amicably come to a conclusion that we should part ways and now we are trying to get the best fit, best solution for everyone. We are talking to a few teams to see where the best fit is and the best value comes for both Ashwin and ourselves. We want the best deal for everyone,”
