Amitabh Bachchan is one of the most loved popular actors who has entertained us for a long time and reinvented himself according to changing times. His voice has mesmerized people for decades, it is also difficult to digest that he was once rejected by All India Radio. He started his movie career with ‘Saat Hindustani’ as an actor and earned Rs.1000 for this film. Though Big B first movie wasn’t a financial success but went on to win his first National Award as the best newcomer.
But the actor faced a tough time when his 12 movies flopped at the box office but fortune changed post-Zanjeer. The movie was an iconic movie which was directed by Prakash Mehra. Tiding the waves of success with his young angry man image that began a remarkable journey of fame and success. Bachchan’s has mesmerized us with his superb performances in films like Laawaris, Coolie, Naseeb, Silsila, Shaarabi, Pink and Badla continued to win the heart of fans and also landed him multiple Fanfare Awards. From the 1970s till date, had appeared in more than 100 films.
The actor has gone through a lot of ups and downs but one incident took place while shooting for a Coolie when Amitabh was seriously injured while filming a fight sequence. He was immediately rushed to the hospital and initial reports revealed he was serious and life-threatening. His fans were devastated. The whole nation walked bare feet to temples and pilgrimage sites and praying for his well-being.
Recently Amitabh Bachchan opened about the incident was quoted saying that, “One of my blood donors was carrying Hepatitis B virus which went into my system. I continued to function normally till the year 2000 and almost 18 years after the accident, during a very normal medical checkup, I was told that my liver was infected and I had lost 75 per cent of my liver. So, if I am standing here today, you are looking at a person who is surviving with 25 per cent of the liver. That is the bad part. The good part is you can survive even with 12%. But no one wants to get to that stage.”
Big B contribution is unmatched in Indian cinema and a career spanning five decades in the Hindi film industry has also won the prestigious National Award for his performances in ‘Agneepath’, ‘Black’, ‘Paa’ and ‘Piku’. Union Minister of Information & Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar informed that Bachchan has been selected for the Dada Saheb Phalke award for the year 2018 for his contribution to the Indian film industry.
The Dadasaheb Phalke Award is India’s highest honour in cinema and it is handed out at the National Film Award ceremony every year. The National Film Award winners for this year were announced in August and the ceremony is expected to be held in the Delhi soon.
Prakash Javadekar wrote, The legend Amitabh Bachchan who entertained and inspired for 2 generations has been selected unanimously for #DadaSahabPhalke award. The entire country and the international community is happy. My heartiest congratulations to him.”
Versatile actor took to social media to express his feeling towards being bestowed with Dada Sahab Phalke award and was quoted saying that, “There is a paucity of words searching a response .. for the generosity of words that pour in ..I am but deeply grateful and most humbled .. my sincerest gratitude ..”
Amitabh Bachchan is one of the busiest actors even at the age of 76 and truly signifies that age is just a number. On the professional front, Mr Bachchan will next be seen movies such are Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy, Brahmastra and Chehre.
