Newly-Appointed Batting Coach Of Indian Cricket: Pant Is A Phenomenal Player But Needs To Bring A “Bit Of Discipline” To His Game.

After the first T20I was washed out in Dharamsala, the action now shifts to Mohali for the second T20I and this will give another chance for Indian Captain Virat Kohli to try out new combinations. The team comprises a bunch of players who all our match winners and today we will talk under pressure Rishabh Pant who has been criticized for giving away his wicket in a silly manner which isn’t come down well with the team management and fans alike.

Delhi Capital players have gone through a lot of highs and lows in his cricketing career. The first time he came into the limelight when he set ablaze with his performance at the India Under-19 in the 2016 World Cup. He played an explosive inning of 24-ball 75, the fastest half-century of the tournament, against Nepal and followed it up with a century vs Namibia. Though Indian Cricket Team couldn’t be left the trophy, the star was born.



Pants hard work came to fruition when he was picked by the Delhi Daredevils (Now Delhi Capital) in the IPL auctions at a whopping price of 1.9 Crores in the 2016 auction. His constant performance during the IPL led to him gain a permanent place in Delhi’s domestic circuit and at the end of the season became captain for the one-day format of the game. He made his debut for the national team against England in a Twenty20 international in Bengaluru.

 The dashing left-handed wicket-keeper batsman can clear boundary ropes with ridiculous ease and has a wide array of the shot. Going into the second season of the IPL, his confidence was sky-high but a tragedy struck which was passing away of his father and led a huge void to fill in his life. He came immediately back post performing last rites and helped his team by guiding his team home with a single-handed effort by scoring 97 against Gujarat Lions to finish the tournament with 366 runs.

A while back Former Indian Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni had decided to take a two-month break and serve his army regiment after a demanding India Premier League season and the 2019 World Cup. This led to the selection of Young wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant to fill as the person whom he will be replacing is none other than legendary captain M.S. Dhoni.

During the interaction with the media Delhi Player was quoted saying that, “I know those are big shoes to fill, but if I start thinking about it there will be a problem. Right now, I am not thinking about what people say. I am just focusing on what I have to do. I just want to do well for my country. That’s the only thing I am focusing on. I take the challenge positively. Now I have to see what I can learn, and what I can do to improve.

The young lad further added that “The way he reads the game that is the first thing. Then, he is always very calm in pressure situations. There are many things to learn from him. And off the field, he is always very helpful too”

During the press conference questioned was asked to Head Coach Ravi and India’s newly appointed batting coach Vikram Rathour was asked if they have talked with Pant and what advice they have given him which will improve his game.

Head coach, Ravi Shastri was quoted saying that, “We’ll let him be but at times when you see a shot, like the first ball dismissal in Trinidad (during the tour of West Indies), if he repeats that, then he will be told. There will be a rap on the knuckles, talent or no talent.

 On the eve India’s second Twenty-20 International (T20I) in Mohali, Rathour was quoted saying that, “Rishabh is a phenomenal player, no doubt about that. Of course, he needs to sort out his gameplan a little more. He needs to bring in a little bit of discipline to his cricket. “What the team management is asking from them is fearless cricket – having clear gameplans and playing with intent, backing your strengths. At the same time, you cannot be careless.”

 The match will take place today at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali and which will be broadcasted on the Star Sports Network from 7 PM onwards.
